Postponing or rescheduling your event allows you to move it to a new date while automatically transferring all existing bookings and tickets to the rescheduled event.
Postpone or rescheduling your event
If you don't have a future date in mind yet
If you don't yet have a future date for your event, it is best to close your event to future bookings until you determine the new date of your event.
To close your event to bookings:
From the Dashboard, under Manage events overview, click on the name of the event
On the left menu, select Basic Information, then Session Times
Next to your Session Time, click Edit
Click the Additional Settings tab
Change the Status to Closed
Click Save
If you do have a future date in mind
If you do have a future date in mind, you can simply update the session times of your event. By doing so, all current bookings will be updated to reflect the new date and time selected.
To do so:
From the Dashboard, under Manage events overview, click your event name
On the left menu, select Basic Information, then Session Times
Next to your Session Time, click Edit
Edit the Session Start Date and Time and Session End Date and Time fields to reflect the new future date
Edit your Booking End Date should you wish to extend your booking window to the new event date
Click Save
Updating the event name and description
We suggest also updating the event description, so it's clear to ticket buyers what is happening with your event.
To update the event description:
From the Dashboard, under Manage events overview, click on the name of the event
On the left menu, select Basic Information, then Homepage & Images
Click on the Edit Homepage Information tab
In the About field, enter a brief message at the start to convey what has taken place
Click Save
Contact ticket buyers
You may use the Email Buyers functionality in order to contact ticket buyers to let them know of any changes to your event and to offer refunds if they cannot end the rescheduled date. For more information click here.
Offer refunds to ticket buyers
If your event is postponed or rescheduled, ticket buyers should be given the option to receive a refund if they are unable or do not wish to attend the new date. For guidance, see Refunding and Voiding Bookings.
To help minimise the financial impact, you may also offer customers event credit towards a future booking as an alternative to a refund. However, customers should still have the option to request a refund. Learn more about Event Credit.
