Donations

Add a donation option to any TryBooking event to encourage giving prior to your event. For those that maybe can't make your event or have the money now to give, it's a perfect way to raise additional funds for your great cause.

Enabling the donations

  1. From the left menu, click Dashboard

  2. From the Manage events overview, click on the event

  3. From the left menu, click on Donations under Additional Information

  4. Select Enable Donation

  5. If you have set you ABN on your account and your organisation is DGR entitled, you will have the option to select Show donations over $2 as tax deductible on the customer's receipt

  6. Add your appeal message and logos.

  7. Set the Donation Method for the customer. You have the choice of either:

    • Donor specified amount: a free text field that allows the customer to enter their own amount to donate

    • List of donation amounts: allows you to create a drop-down list of donation amounts that the customer can select from

  8. Click Save and Close

The option to donate will then be presented to the customer during the booking process after a ticket is selected.

Allow those who can't attend the event to still make a donation

If you would like to provide the option for those who cannot attend to make a donation, you can do so without affecting the capacity of your event.

To set up:

  1. Enable the Donation feature as above

  2. From the left menu, click Pricing Group (ticket prices) under Ticketing

  3. Click Add Pricing Group

  4. Name this pricing group 'Donations Only', click Ok

  5. Under Ticket Price, click Add Ticket Type

  6. Enter the following details into the fields listed:

    • Ticket Type: Make a Donation

    • Description: Please enter 1 in the QTY field to proceed with making a donation

    • Group Ticket: Not selected

    • Amount: 0

    • Status: Active

  7. Click Save and Close

  8. From the left menu, click Sections under Allocation

  9. Click into your existing Section, and rename to the effect of 'Event tickets'. Whilst it is not mandatory, you may wish to add a description that helps indicate that this is the option to select for those who wish to attend the event

  10. Click Save, then Back

  11. Click Add New Section, then Next

  12. In Section Name enter 'Donation Only', and in the Description enter text to the effect of 'Unable to attend the event but would like to make a donation', click Next

  13. Keep Allocation Type as Space and increase Maximum Number of Attendees to a high number (eg 500), click Next

  14. Select the Donations Only under Pricing Group, and click Create Section

  15. Click Finish

Once you have completed the setup, go through Preview Event or Make a Booking to ensure that your setup is correct.
