The TryBooking Box Office app allows you to quickly and easily take in person payments from your phone or tablet. Making it the perfect option for managing your door sales with no additional hardware, accounts or services required.
It is fully integrated with the TryBooking system, meaning that you won't oversell a particular section or ticket type, and you'll find all reporting in one place.
The app is free to use for event organisers using TryBooking and their teams. You can download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and start taking payment from your phone today.

The following User Roles will have access to the Box Office app:
- Account Owner
- Power User
- Basic Access User
- Box Office Manager
- Box Office User

Box Office fees and charges
The TryBooking Box Office attracts the same low rate as online sales. For full details of our pricing, please see https://www.trybooking.com/pricing.
- Cash sales: will incur the Ticket Fee, but no Processing Fee. The ticket fee for cash sales will automatically be deducted from your raised revenue
- Card payments: will be subjected to both the Ticket Fee and the Processing Fee
- You are able to choose whether you wish to absorb or pass all fees on to the customer. For instructions please see: Passing on or absorbing TryBooking fees
Processing sales in the Box Office App
There is no need to adjust your booking dates to allow for Box Office sales. You do not need your online sales to be open for booking to process sales in the Box Office App.
For your event to be visible in the Box Office App, you do need to have your tickets Availability set to a box office option, see: Activate events for selling in Box Office
To proceed, download the TryBooking Box Office App from the Google Play store (iOS coming in 2024)
To begin processing sales via the Box Office app:
- Enable Bluetooth on your device
- Open the TryBooking Box Office app on your device
- Click on Log In and enter your username and password
- To accept card payments via the app, you need to grant location permission and allow the app to find nearby devices. If using an Android device you will be prompted to Allow these permissions on first log in. If using an Apple device these should automatically be enabled

Select the event that you wish to process sales on

Select the session that you wish to process a sales on

If you event has more then 1 Section, you will need to select Section before proceeding to the tickets screen. If your event has only 1 Section, you will be taken to the ticket screen without needing to select the section.
Select the number of tickets for each ticket type required for the sale, then select Checkout to proceed with the payment -
On the Order Summary Screen, select payment method by clicking Contactless Payment (for Card) or Cash
- If Contactless Payment is selected:
- The “Tap behind device” should appear on screen. This is the queue to tap the card, phone, watch or other payment device behind the phone/tablet. Screen view vary depending on your devices
- Once payment has been successfully processed a success screen will appear, then automatically disappear after a few seconds. Screen view vary depending on your devices
- A summary of the transaction amount paid will display, and an option to enter in a email address to have the tickets and receipt emailed
- Click New Sale
- The “Tap behind device” should appear on screen. This is the queue to tap the card, phone, watch or other payment device behind the phone/tablet. Screen view vary depending on your devices
- If Cash is selected:

If you would like to be told how much change to provide your customer, enter in the cash amount provided in the Cash Payment Field before selecting Compete Booking

Difficulties using the Box Office app - Troubleshooting
This area will provide you with some areas to troubleshoot should you be having difficulties processing sales via the Box Office app.
Location Turned off/permissions disabled
In order to process card sales via the Box Office app, you must have Location turned on and permissions enabled.
To ensure this has been set correctly, go into your devices settings, select the TryBooking Box Office app, and ensure that Location is set to either "While Using" or "Always"
Bluetooth enabled
Depending on your device, it may require that you Bluetooth is enable in order to activate the Tap to Pay settings on your device. Please ensure you have enabled Bluetooth
Tap to Pay not paired successfully on your device
When you open the app and submit your first payment, it will automatically pair Tap to Pay on your device with the Box Office app.
If for whatever reason, it does not pair successfully the first time, you are able to re-pair via the following steps:
- Select menu item in the top left of the screen
- Select Pair Terminal
- Select Tap to Pay
- With the pairing complete, you will be able to select Box Office from the top left menu to begin accepting payments

Event not in Listed in the app
For an event to be shown in the Box Office app, at lease 1 of the tickets must have the Availability set either "Box Office only" or "Online and Box Office"

Please also note, only Current and Past events will show in box office. Archived events will not display, even if they have the tickets with the Availability set to include a Box Office option.
