Local Mode
By default, your account will be set to scan on Local mode. Local mode downloads the ticket data to the device and stores the device's scans to device before syncing to the database and across all other devices in use.
This mode is suitable for most events, as it ensures scanning continues even if the device loses internet connection. It keeps queues moving, and staff ensures staff and volunteers are unaffected by temporary disruptions.
What this means if a ticket is scanned on the device that loses internet connection, it can be scanned successfully on another device, whilst the connection is lost.
If you'd prefer that your devices is prevented from scanning tickets should they loose connection, switch to Real-Time Verification mode.
New ticket purchases can still be scanned when the device loses connection on this mode. The app is smart enough to recognised the ticket number format and recognise it is a ticket for the selected event/s.
If you plan on scanning guests In and Out, and allowing for re-entry, a stable internet connection at all entry points is required. We would also recommend that you opt to use Real-Time Verification.
Real-Time Verification
Real-Time Verification Mode allows the device to speak directly to the database. This mode is only recommended should you have a strong and reliable internet connection.
β
If the device loses internet connection in this mode, scanning will not be possible.
Consider whether an influx of people into the area affects your mobile tower network or whether event proceedings put stress on your private network bandwidth. If this is a possibility, we would strongly recommend staying on Local Mode.
To enable Real-Time verification:
Log into the web portal
From the Dashboard, click Events on the side menu, and select Global event settings
Scroll down to the heading Force real time ticket validation, and enable verify tickets in real time
βClick Save
If you are already logged in to the app before changing this setting, you need to logout and back on all devices to proceed with scanning.
