Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Updated this week

The Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) allows users to enhance the security of their account by enabling two forms of authentication:

  1. Verified Phone Number (SMS)

  2. Authentication App (e.g. Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy)

These options provide the user with a rotating set of codes that need to be entered when logging into your account using an email and password, protecting the account in the event your email or password has been compromised.

How to enable Multi-Factor Authentication

Users must first verify a mobile phone number before they can enable the Authentication App. This ensures there is a fallback method for account recovery if access to the app is lost.

Once a phone number is verified, it can be used to receive verification codes via SMS. This can be used to log in if the user loses access to their authentication app or changes devices.

With the phone number verified, users can set up an authenticator app. The app generates time-based one-time passcodes (TOTP) used to verify login attempts.

To enable MFA:

  1. If you don't already have an authentication app on your smartphone, go to your app provider and download an authentication app such as Google Authenticator

  2. Log in to your account using the current email address and password

  3. Click on your user name in the top right corner

  6. Enter in a valid mobile number including the country code, and click Send Code

  7. A SMS message will be sent to the mobile number enter containing a 6 digit code. Enter this code into the Enter Code field and click Save

  8. With your Phone Number verified, next to Authentication App click Set Up

  9. Enter in your TryBooking Account password in the pop-up box, and click Next

  10. Open your chosen authenticator app on your smartphone, and select to add a new token. Scan the QR code that will be present on presented or manually enter the Secret Key code

  11. On your authenticator app you will now see the 6 digit code with the heading TryBooking. Enter this code in the Authentication Code field on the screen in your TryBooking account, and click Next

  12. The page will update to confirm the status as enabled

With the set up complete, when logging into your TryBooking account, after you have entered your correct email and password, you will be prompted to enter the 6 digit code presented in your authenticator app before you can access your account.

Please note the code will expire after 30 seconds. At which point, a new code will be presented for you to verify.
