Troubleshooting CSV file upload errors

There are numerous areas within TryBooking that you are able to upload a csv file for quick upload of data.

If uploading via csv file is allowed for a particular feature, you will find a Upload CSV File button on the page. If no button is present, the uploading of a CSV file is not supported for that particular feature.

This guide will provide you with some helpful tips to troubleshoot CSV file upload errors you may encounter.

Is the file you are uploading the correct file type?

Only .csv files can be used to upload data. If the file you are uploading has an file extension that is anything other then .csv it will not upload.

Is the file formatted correctly?

On the screen that you upload your csv file on, to the left side of the upload button, there will be a link that allows you to download an example file.

Use this file and the format it present your data in create your file for uploading. Pay particular attention to the headers and session times stated in the example file, as these do need to match what is on the example file.

If your headers are not correct on the file, you will get the error:

How can you tell what rows have errors in them?

After selecting your file and clicking Save, if there is errors in the file uploaded, you will get a popup that tells you which rows in the file contain errors:

From this popup, click on Download & Fix Errors. This will download a copy of your file with the exact error stated in each row, allowing you to amend the file and re-upload:

Uploading a CSV file created via the software Numbers on a Mac

If you have created your CSV file via Numbers on a Mac, you may get an error on Save:

This error is in relation to how the headers in the file have been saved.

To correct, re-export your file as a new file. Numbers will then give you gives you a checkbox option when saving, that allows you to Include table names. Leave this option unchecked and the file will now be save in a format that will allow for successful upload:
