Control the privacy of your event with publication tools.
This article covers:
Setting an event to Private
When you create a new event, it will be set to Public by default. Public events can be accessed by anyone and will appear in TryBooking's Find Event search. Setting an event to Private will remove the event from this search, as well as removing the event from your Event Listing URL, Widgets and Event Listing Page.
To set your event to private:
- From the left menu, click Dashboard
- Under Manage events overview, click the name of your event
- From the left menu, click Event publication, under Event promotion
- In the Publication tab, change Public to No
- Click Save
You may also wish to turn off social media links, preventing customers from sharing the event on their social pages. To do so, on the same page, change Show Social Media Links to No.
Password protect your event
If you have an event that is only open to a select group for booking, you will be able to set a password on your event homepage. Only those that have been provided with the password will be able to proceed with booking.
This can also be a great way to manage early/priority access to an event, before opening it up to the general public.
To set a password on your event:
- From the left menu, click Dashboard
- Under Manage events overview, click the name of your event
- From the left menu, click Event publication, under Event promotion
- Select the Passwords tab
- Tick the box Password protect this event
- Set up your passwords as needed. You can have up to 10 passwords
- Click Save
Lookup URL
If you have a members-only website and want to share your event there, you can use the Lookup URL on this page to direct users to a password-free version of your event. Your members can quickly book while non-members will require a password.
